Stephen Douglas Blaylock

Stephen was born on April 5, 1953 in Monterey, Tennessee to Billie Jean Byars and Frank Douglas Blaylock. He grew up in Tennessee before moving to Southern California. After marrying his wife, Barbara in 1972, they moved to Indiana and he attended Purdue University. They moved back to Southern California and started a family before moving his wife, daughter, and son to Arizona in 1999, where Steve eventually retired from his career in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Blaylock; his daughter, Colleen Kucera, and her husband, John Kucera; and his grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew. He is also survived by his son, Brenton Blaylock, and his wife, Mary Blaylock; and his grandsons, Nathan and Michael.

Steve will be remembered for his selfless spirit, infectious sense of humor, deep love for his family, and unwavering care for others. He could often be found in his signature Hawaiian shirt, shorts, and sandals—regardless of the weather, occasion, or day of the week.

A Celebration of his life will be held on July 2, 2025 5:30pm at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church.
