

Stuart Warren Sandberg, age 91, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on May 26, 1934, and graduated in 1953 from Montesano High School, Montesano, WA. He served in the United States Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged as a weapons mechanic in the rank of airman first class.
Stuart married Annell Williams on June 19, 1959, in Chandler, AZ. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. After retiring, he worked part time at Chandler-Gilbert Community College to keep active.
Stuart had a passion for sports. He played football, baseball, and basketball in high school. Later he umpired and refereed for high school and junior college teams, and he was part of the Chandler High School football chain gang for over 30 years. He also enjoyed hunting with his friends.
Stuart loved living out his faith in Jesus by singing in the church choir and teaching 4 and 5 year olds in Sunday school over the course of 40 years at First Baptist Church in Chandler. Later he served as a greeter at Redemption Gilbert and was involved in the SALT Ministry for senior adults. He was well known for his ability to make friends wherever he went.
Stuart is survived by his wife Annell (Williams) Sandberg; sister Winifred Woudstra; and children Todd (Doni), Robyn Bentley (Doug), Lori Kerby (Daren), and Scott; as well as thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Nils and Winnie Sandberg and brother Norman Sandberg.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7, at 11:00 am at Redemption Gilbert, 1820 W Elliot Rd, Gilbert, AZ, 85233. A reception with a light lunch will follow.
