Susan K. Bauer Ellis

She was born to Maynard and Dorothy Bauer, November 9, 1953 in Independence, IA. She received her BS from Iowa State University in 1975. She married Mark Ellis in 1974, and they lived together across the country before settling in Chandler in 2007.

Susan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and friends. Her strength, determination, and positive attitude, especially during her 3 1/2 year battle with breast cancer, were an inspiration to her family, friends, doctors and nurses, and other cancer patients. We will greatly miss the love, support, and courage that she gave to all of us.

Susan is survived by her husband, Mark Ellis; two children, Laura (Brian) Gausden, and Ryan Ellis, both of the Phoenix area; her father, Maynard Bauer of Walker, IA; two siblings, brother Edmund (Judy) Bauer of Walker, IA and sister Donita Bauer (Jill Thompson) of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by one grandchild, Jack Gausden

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Susan's name to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

Family and friends are invited to visit after 12:00 PM and to attend 1:00 PM Funeral Services Saturday, January 7, 2012 BOTH at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona
