He is also survived by his daughters Lynn (Mario) and Marguerite (Todd); grandchildren Kristen, Mario, and Morgan; great-grandchild Corey; sister Kathleen (Ed); brothers Larry (Debbie), John (Laura), Paul (Marsha), and Gary; and many cousins, nephews and nieces, friends, and in-laws. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years. A chapter of service marked by commitment and duty. Military Honors will be provided at the internment.
Wayne pursued higher education with determination and focus, earning a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering—an achievement that reflected a steady mind for problem-solving and a lifelong respect for disciplined work.
He later worked as a Line Mechanic at U.S. Airways, where he retired, known for bringing care, precision, and reliability to the work entrusted to him.
In his personal life, Wayne found genuine enjoyment in Cleveland baseball, football, bowling, traveling, and fishing. He also gave his time as a Volunteer at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio, offering steady support and showing the quiet generosity that defined so much of how he lived. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild, watching them play and grow.
Wayne’s faith and community ties were important to him. He was connected with First Christian Church in Massillon, Ohio, and remained active in organizations that reflected his enduring respect for service and camaraderie: DAV Mesa #8 and DAV Ohio #38, VFW Post 3124, Ohio, and IAM Union #1044, Pittsburgh.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of the Valley Staff and to the ICU Banner nurses—Carrie, Lucy, Maria, and Kimberly—for their care and compassion. Appreciation to Alma School Road Church of Christ for their support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local VFW, DAV, or Wounded Warrior Project. Flowers may be sent to Alma School Road Church of Christ on Friday afternoon (9/25) or Saturday morning (9/26) from 9 to 11 am.
