

Bill Blackledge was born on December 6, 1926 to Florence N. Blackledge and Glenn E. Blackledge in Morenci, AZ. Bill graduated from Yuma Union High school in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII and was commander of Civil Air Patrol, Tucson.
Upon returning from the War and resuming his studies at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Bill met Norma Joyce Fulp from Mishawaka, Indiana. They were married Oct. 3, 1946. Bill went on to graduate from the U of A in 1951. Bill is survived by 3 children, Cinda Blackledge (Saridakis), Larry Blackledge and Valerie Blackledge (Silva) and spouses., 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
Bill had an extensive career in the Agri-business industry, both in U.S and Mexico. Bill retired from the Faculty of U of A where he was Superintendent of Yuma Agriculture Research Center. Bill was also an Administrator for the state of Arizona Board of Pesticide Control, under Governor Bruce Babbit.
Bill was an avid pilot for many years and enjoyed his membership in the Cessna 180/185 club, also serving the Sheriffs Air Posse and the Aviation Explorers for several years. He also enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, camping and travelling with Joyce, who pre-deceased him by 5 1/2 months after 67 years of marriage.
Arrangements under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler, AZ 85248. Viewing Friday January 23, 2015 5-8 pm. Service Saturday January 24,2015 at 1:30 p.m. Bill's service will be under the care of Chaplain Bob Barrett (Hospice of the Valley.)
In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to either the Banner Alzheimer's foundation or Hospice of the Valley.
