William "Bill" Leonard McAfee Jr., age 70, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on August 17, 2025. Born on January 18, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bill spent more than 30 years as a resident of Arizona, making a home and a life for himself and his family in the Valley of the Sun.
Bill was a man of many passions, known for his love of the open road on his motorcycle, his meticulous hobby of collecting coins and watches, and a stubborn streak that was a defining part of his character. This stubbornness was a quality his family knew well and even found endearing, as it was often followed by a flash of gratitude. In May, after a medical emergency, Bill initially refused to go to the hospital, but later, in a moment that perfectly captured his spirit, he thanked his family for taking charge and getting him the care he needed.
For three decades, Bill dedicated his career to US West, a phone company. He retired and began a new chapter, working for nearly 15 years as a meter technician for SRP, a job he held with pride.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Yunxiang Ma, and his two children, Gongji Zhou and Rui Zhou. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a burial at the same location from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
