WICKES, William E. - age 84, passed away unexpectedly in Chandler, AZ on Sunday, April 1, 2012. Born in Roanoke, VA, he is the son of the late Harry and Ellen (Engelby) Wickes. Upon completion of high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army near the end of WW II. After his stint in the military, he enrolled at Johns Hopkins University where he completed his degree in electrical engineering. With his diligent persistence and his degree in hand, Bill began his life-long career of working for several major U.S. corporations, including General Electric, Hughes Aircraft, Texas Instruments and North American Rockwell.
Bill is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Dolores; a son, Tom (Joan) and a daughter, Deborah (Scott) Bender; ten grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Fran); and 11 nieces and nephews.
