Winifred I. NELSON, age 88, of Sun Lakes, Arizona and John Day, Oregon, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was born in Denver, Colorado on January 30, 1934. Winifred graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore UMBC and received a Masters of Social Work.
She was married to David B. Nelson on September 22, 1957 in Grants Pass, Oregon. Winifred had a career in social work until she retired in 1995. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and had a passion for social organizations, music, bridge and was a patron of the arts.
She is survived by her husband David B. Nelson; her children Jacqueline Nelson-Paunil and Dave L. Nelson; her grandchildren Erin Ashley Smith, Eric Nelson, Emma Nelson Paunil Mattison; her siblings LaVonne N. Braziel, Frederick Weech and Emma Louise Weech.
