Woody was born in Kendallville, Indiana on July 17, 1947 to Woodward Lewis Dilts, Sr. and Violet Revera (Henderson) Dilts. He graduated from Indiana University (South Bend) with a Bachelor's Degree in History and later from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago) with a Master’s Degree in Ministry.
On August 23, 1969, Woody was married to his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Parker) Dilts, who preceded him in death (2022). In her last years, Woody lovingly cared for Mary, while she battled ALS. Early in his career, Woody worked in sales and later in life was a real estate agent and broker, but he was most excited being a pastor for 25 years and preaching and teaching the Bible. Woody loved reading, studying, playing chess, and cheering for Notre Dame football. He eagerly looked forward to heaven where he would one day be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Woody is survived by his two children, Nathan (Robin) Dilts and Mandi (Eric) Peterson; his six grandchildren, Ethan, Trevor, Jadyn, Taya, Kayla, and Kyler; his mother, Violet Dilts, his brother, Doug (Jennifer) Dilts; and nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Dilts; his father, Woodward Dilts, Sr; and his sister, Sheila Dilts.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.”
