

Born on August 28th, 1933, in Koeokuk, Iowa, to the late William Glenn and Mildred Ann (Scott) Campbell. In the ninth grade, her family moved to a farm in Biggsville, Illinois. She worked at the Galesburg Register Mail upon graduating high school in Abingdon, Illinois. After her marriage to Donald Hallbick, she worked at the Courier newspaper in Champaign, Illinois until she chose to be a domestic goddess and raise her nine children. She spent those years devoting herself to her church and her children’s activities. Later in life, she worked at Baptist Hospital until retirement. Barbara was an active member of the William Thomson chapter of DAR. As a member, she held various offices and spearheaded the Calhoun County Veterans Memorial in St. Matthews SC.
Surviving are eight of her nine children, Robert (Debby) Hallbick, Catherine (Tom) Gross, Mary (Mike) Snipes, Debbie Parks (Jim), Joseph (Melony) Hallbick, Margaret (Mike) Hancock, Teresa (Joseph) Gucwa, John Hallbick (Jackie); seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Donald Charles Hallbick and Shellie Johnson Robinson, Jr., son Michael Hallbick, grandson Alan Gerow, five brothers (William, John, James, Bob, and Gary Campbell) and four sisters (Maribelle Vice, Willa Gibbemeyer, Margaret Carmody and Mildred Allen).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 5-7pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 123 Columbia Ave., Chapin, SC.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 195 Amicks Ferry Rd., Chapin SC on Friday, January 31 at 10am. Light refreshments will follow. A private burial will be held at Bush Rivers Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society to honor her late husband’s struggle with cancer.
