Bertha Shealy McCartha

Ms. Bertha McCartha, 86, of Chapin, SC passed away on January 30, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family. Born November 10, 1938, in Prosperity, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ashley Shealy and Hazeline Shealy. She was a graduate of Pomaria High School and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a wonderful grandmother, and sister. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters, Donna Torres (Ricky), Betty Rhodes (Jimmy) and Sandy; son, Kurt McCartha (Rhonda); Frances Morris (Shelby) and daughter, Melinda Connor; grandchildren, C.J. Rhodes, Logan Ugran, Madison Armstrong, Tyler McCartha, and Ethan Morris; and great-grandchildren, Grace Ugran, McKinley Ugran, and Lucy Neal Armstrong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Brooks McCartha; daughter, Debra Jean McCartha; sister, Miriam Bickley; and brother, Donald Shealy.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Fellowship Reception Hall, 2081 Dutch Fork Rd, White Rock, SC 29177, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
