GILBERT – A graveside service for Betty Jo Billingsley, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Chapin Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Mrs. Billingsley was born on August 30, 1935 to Thomas and Myrtis Knowles in Columbiana, Alabama, and passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Lexington, SC. She was a Drum Majorette for Shelby County High School and retired from Chapin High School after many years of service.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Billingsley; son, James Wilson Loyd, Jr.; siblings, Billy Frank Knowles, Edna Jackson, and Ollie Myrtis Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Leigh (Jeff) Weaver, Sandy (Jared) Bloom; grandchildren, Randall (Mariah) Owen, Shelby (Jason) Stickley, Jordan and Maddux Bloom, Matt Billingsley, Grant (Hannah) Billingsley; five great-grandchildren and brother, Charles Whitten (Pat) Knowles. Mrs. Billingsley is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, not to mention many friends.
She was known as an avid golfer, a traveler, and she loved everyone with all of her heart.
To say “thank you” is not enough for the ladies at Oakleaf. You loved her unconditionally, and it showed.
