Charles Wessinger

CHAPIN – Funeral services for Charles Leroy Wessinger, 68, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036 with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Mr. Wessinger was born October 18, 1943 in Newberry, SC and passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. He was the son of Mildred Wessinger and the late Leroy Wessinger. Charles was the owner of Bear Creek Greenhouses and Christmas Tree Farm, President of the Newberry Car Buffs and a member of the South Carolina Christmas Tree Growers Association. He served in the South Carolina National Guard. Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outside playing with his grandchildren and taking care of all his girls.

Mr. Wessinger is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Mary Frick Wessinger of Chapin; daughters, Liesha Huffstetler (Jody), Charlene Wessinger-Weatherford all of Chapin and Gina Wessinger of Columbia; mother, Mildred Wessinger of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Kelsey, Michael, Jonathan, Jared and Jana; sisters, Elvia Lindler and Faye Rickard both of Chapin and brother, Dwain Wessinger of Little Mountain. He was predeceased by his father, Leroy Wessinger.
