
CHAPIN – Funeral services for Cholie Rauch Slice, 103, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, Chapin, SC with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Slice was born August 19, 1911 in Chapin, SC and passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Hampton Rauch and Ella Shealy Rauch. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 75 years. She sang in the Church Choir for 38 years and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Leisure Timers. She taught Sunday School, was a Dutch Fork Volunteer, and worked with the Senior Citizens in the Chapin area for a number of years. She retired from The Lowman Home as a Nursing Assistant and formerly worked in the Chapin - Lexington School District 5. She enjoyed church activities, watching Braves baseball, Gamecock football, basketball, gardening and was famous for her coconut pies.
Surviving are daughter, Phyllis (Jim) S. Metts of Chapin; son, Bernard Slice of Columbia and grandchildren, Jimmy (Lauren) Metts, Dennie (Todd) Bedenbaugh; great-grandchildren, Madison Metts, Jay Metts and Corey Bedenbaugh; sisters-in-law, Frances Derrick of Chapin, Cecil Sealy of West Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. N. “Knocker” Slice and her sisters, Annie Bickley, Marie Stoudemire and Nezzie Addy.
