CHAPIN – Funeral services for Cody Matthew Flynn, 18, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Chapin Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, located at 123 Columbia Ave., Chapin, SC 29036.

Cody was born September 14, 2001 in Sumter, SC and passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. He was the son of Matt and Windi Flynn.

Cody was a senior at Chapin High School. He started his football career with the Chapin Eagles in the 8th grade and continued to play during all four years of high school. He also competed on both the track and field and wrestling teams. Cody had a passion and appreciation for all genres and decades of music. He taught himself to play both acoustic and bass guitar. In keeping with Cody’s spirit, the family asks you to dress very casually for the visitation and funeral services. The more rock ‘n’ roll band and Chapin T-shirts the better.

In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by: sisters, Tristin and Savana Flynn; paternal grandparents, Dave and Gail Flynn; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Sharon Gallahar; aunts, Shannon Purdy (Joel), Sunshine Gallahar, Kristall Hanson (John); cousins, Shelby, Teagan, Laken, Paton, Cora, Connor, Bryce and great grandmother, Rita Gallahar.

Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.

From the first day i met Cody, he walked into Marcos on his first day. He had a big smile when he saw one of his best friends working and he never failed to bring joy, peace, and enlightenment into that building. I remember when i was upset one day i came to work and he was leaning against the table and asked if i was okay, and i told him that i was fine i just wasn’t having the best day. He walked over to me after i clocked in and he hugged me.. From that day on, he made sure everyone there was happy and made sure we all were okay, but the one thing i didn’t ask in when we worked together was if he was okay! I regret not asking that because now, there will never be a time i can walk in on his smile, his laugh, and his encouragement again! He was one of the sweetest guys i’ve ever met and i will never forget the smile he always had on his face ! rest easy cody, you will forever be missed!!!

Cody was always over at our house, he always hung out with my brother. Cody was always so nice to me and he would always talk to me and that's saying a lot being one of his friend's little sister. He even picked me up from school once with my brother and would hug me when I brought them cookies. Cody meant a lot to me and he was not only one of my brother's friend but my friend too. I am so sorry for the loss of such an amazingly kind boy.

Me and Cody were talking in the locker room one day and he asked me what my plan after high school was. I told him I want to play in the NFL one day. Everybody told me that I was waisting my time, but Cody told me that he believed in me and that he hoped that one day he could watch me play and hoped that everything would turn out good for me
