To the family of Deidre , this is her cousin Cathy Murray Hirschfelt from Akron Ohio. I just found out about your mom’s passing. I am so very sorry for your loss. My sister’s and I met her and your dad when they came to Akron a few years ago to meet us. We kept in touch by text especially around the holidays and her Birthday is in December and mine is the 17 th of December. I texted her on her Birthday and it takes her about 24 hours to respond to me. But when she did not from that or I didn’t her from her on mine I knew something was wrong. I called her cell and got a different person. Then I emailed her. Then I texted our other cousin Billy Mason who wrote back and gave me the news.  Again we are so very sorry for your loss. I taught with Dede and she taught both of my children. She was a favorite teacher for them, and she had such a positive impact in English study for two very definite math oriented students. I was also so excited and privileged to study under Dede in Women of the Word group for the past three years.  My knowledge and love of the Bible grew so much under her guidance.  

I want you to know, Laurie, what an impact your turtle story about Dede’s faith had on me.  It is such a wonderful illustration of the love and power of our God.  We all need to be reminded of how great He really is, even over the small stuff.  I have shared her turtle story many times over the past few weeks and will continue to share it every chance I get.  It’s a powerful way to witness to others.

Ann O'Shields and Dede were "teaching buds", and when Ann would talk to her on the phone the room would fill with laughter. They shared many thoughts together about their faith, their families, and their hopes and aspirations. Dede lived in our neighborhood, so Ann would stop in to see her at times. They were special friends and cared deeply for one another. Dede's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on. Our hearts are with the family at this time.

Dede was a lovely woman inside and out. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Fischer was my English teacher at CMS. One day I was getting bullied and I watched as she stood up for me and scolded the bully.  That was two decades ago and I remember it like it yesterday.

You are truly missed Mrs. Fischer. It’s not “goodbye”, but “see you soon”.

So very saddened by Dede’s passing. We go back a long ways and had a lot of laughs.  I know she’s with the Lord and maybe she and Arthur are telling funny stories.  

My deepest prayers go to John, Michael and Laurie and her beloved grandchildren. 

God’s promise tells us we will one day be together again.

Such a wonderful and faithful friend. Her legacy of teaching and Bible study will live on in those privileged to sit under her tutelage. She will be missed. 

Dede was such a blessing to me. She was such a fantastic leader and set a great example  for all Christian women.  She is going to be greatly missed but I know she is by Jesus's side and celebrating with friends and family who  are celebrating her arrival to heaven.💕

Oh, sweet Dede!  Such an AMAZING Bible study leader whom I was privileged to learn under for over a decade!  I will miss your sweet smile and quick whit as well as your way of bringing the Bible to life in a tender and compassionate way. I know you are basking in Heavens glory with Jesus.  You will be desperately missed. 

Fischer Family,
I was fortunate to not only know your loved one as my teacher but also as a friend and colleague of my mother who worked with her for many years at CMS and thought very highly of her. I also enjoyed having her as my teacher.  I’m sorry for your loss. It is one that I know well. I hope that happy memories bring you comfort along with the promise that you will be reunited again. Mrs. Fisher was warm and kind. She was absolutely hilarious. I enjoyed many “behind the scenes” giggles after hours at CMS with Mrs. Fischer. I’m sad for this world that she is no longer here to bring her kindness, sense of humor, and wit into every room she entered. I’m sorry that you all have to learn to live without her dynamic presence until you are reunited. When my mom passed I enjoyed hearing from her students that she made a difference. Rest assured Mrs. Fischer made a difference. I know that her reunion in heaven was a warm one, not just of the people who you all know and love, but of others who she touched through her life who are so happy to be reunited with “Dede.”

I am incredibly saddened to hear of your loss. I am in tears & just praying for grace and guidance for your family. As we know, she was a beautiful believer, funny, kind, spiritual. I knew Dede for gosh, just a few months through Women of the Word bible study. She was such a loving graceful presence & I cannot even express to you the impact she has made on my life. I will always remember the day she came up to me & said, "All I saw today was you smiling back at me!" She will always have a place in my heart & this is just a reminder of how, just a simple kind deed or comment can move someone's life forever. She has moved mine & I am beyond grateful.
