CHAPIN – Funeral services for Emily C. Ballentine, 79, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 E. Boundary St., Chapin, SC 29036 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Mrs. Ballentine was born April 15, 1939 in Columbia, SC, and passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Howard J. and Moxley H. Cothran. Mrs. Ballentine was a graduate of Columbia High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She retired from the Lutheran Theological Seminary. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Chevis F. Ballentine of Chapin; sons, Chet Ballentine (LeAnne) of Lexington, Todd Ballentine (Joanie) of Chapin; daughter, Tanya Chapman (Keith) of Chapin; grandchildren, AshleyAnne McMullan (Jared), Zachary Ballentine, Morgan Chapman, Grayson Ballentine, Allyson Ballentine, Olivia Chapman, Emma Ballentine, Ethan Ballentine, Jack Howard Ballentine; brothers, Charles H. (Betsy) and David J. (Kathy) Cothran. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Minter and the SCOA staff, Helen and the Infusion Center staff at Lexington Medical Center, and Dr. Frederic Smith.
