Fae was born on October 14, 1931 to the late James Earl and Lola Shealy Lindler in Chapin, SC. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin. She retired from Southern Bell/Bell South/AT&T with 35 years of service. Known as “Memomma” to many, she loved traveling, fishing, gardening, and being with her family.
Fae was the widow of William David "Bill" Swittenberg, Jr. She was also predeceased by her son, William David "Davey" Swittenberg III; sisters, Gladys Frick and Evelyn Roland and son-in-law, Tom Downing. Surviving are her children, Sharron (Keith) Ostrander, Cindy Downing; grandchildren, Leslie (Brett) Pollock, Kyle (Cindy) Ostrander and Kristen (Brad) Hunt; great-grandchildren, Zack Pollock and Tyler and Jake Ostrander; sister, Janelle Farr of West Columbia; and brother, Jim Lindler of Chapin; sisters-in-law, Pat Swittenberg, Carolyn Swittenberg and Melba (Jimmy) Graham; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 East Boundary Street, Chapin, SC 29036 with Reverend Ralph Hill presiding. Burial will be at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29065 or Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin.
