Funeral services for Frances Mills Huffstetler, 93, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin, SC, with the Reverend Larry Hagerty officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall an hour before the service. A private burial service for the family will follow.
Frances, wife of the late Ellis (Jack) Huffstetler, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter of the late Monroe and Bell Mills of Prosperity, SC, and is predeceased by two brothers, Otis and Raymond Mills; and two sisters, Margie Long and Lois Calvert.
After graduation from high school, Frances had to forego attending college in order to care for her Dad and youngest brother after her Mom’s untimely death. She married the love of her life in 1949 and was a full-time homemaker until she began her career with First Citizen’s Bank (known at that time as Commercial Bank & Trust). She retired 36 years later as Assistant Vice President.
Frances was strong, independent, and tough as nails, yet warm, compassionate, and welcoming. She was deeply devoted to her family and treasured her friendships dearly. She was affectionately known as MawMaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she made sure they were spoiled rotten and well fed.
Frances is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Berry (Tripp) and Connie Fulmer; grandchildren, Brian Mills (Laurie), Ashleigh Connel (Kyle), Kip Berry, William “Trey” Miller (Karla), and Lindsey Williams (Derek); and great-grandchildren, Preston Mills, Cara and Callie Campbell, Logan and Isabelle Miller, Kase Berry, and Noah Connel.
We celebrate the beautiful life she lived and will honor her memory in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church at 215 St. Thomas Church Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
