
CHAPIN – Funeral service for Frank Lynn Mc Cartha, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday January 3, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Mr. Mc Cartha was born December 19, 1934 to Frank Lynn and Margaret Whitehead Mc Cartha of White Rock, SC and passed away January 1, 2015 at home. He served proudly in the US Air Force and then worked in Building and Construction for more than 50 years. He became a professional dog handler in the 1960’s and an all-breed dog show Judge in the 1970’s. Through his career with the American Kennel Club he judged in 48 states and 11 foreign countries. He was also an avid horseman with a particular love of the Appaloosa breed. He proudly owned “Come Away With Me” a prized Appaloosa chosen as a model horse for the breed.
He raised, bred, trained and showed National champion Appaloosa and miniature horses on his farm, “Heritage farms”. He founded the Dixieland Miniature Horse Association, was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club, South Carolina Appaloosa Horse Association and Palmetto State Appaloosa Association. He was a lover of sports and an avid Gamecock fan.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Geer Mc Cartha; daughters, Debra Greene and Diane Turok Baldwin; son, Lynn Mc Cartha; grandchildren, Stephen, Michael and Jared Greene; grandchildren, Jordan and Chase Turok, Amber Cole, Brittani, Lynn and Taylor Mc Cartha and brother, Howard Mc Cartha. Predeceased are his youngest daughter, Dana Faye Williams a brother, John Robert Mc Cartha and his parents.
He will be greatly missed.
