
CHAPIN - A Memorial service for George W. Frederick, 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Avenue in Chapin, SC. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home of Chapin is assisting the family.
Mr. Frederick departed this life and joined his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2014. Born in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late George A. Frederick and Margaret Coombs Frederick. He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen, having been married for almost 60 years.
Surviving Mr. Frederick are his brother, Bill Frederick; five children, Diane Jones, Karl Frederick, Paul Frederick, David Frederick, and Jeanne Chesky. He has 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
After 37½ years as a Field Engineer, he retired from IBM in June, 1993. George’s hobbies included boating, salt water fishing, and he also served as a volunteer for the U. S. Power Squadron for 15 years, checking the lights each month on Lake Murray, repairing and replacing bulbs when necessary. He played a large part in making sure the lights on Lake Murray were in good working order.
Mr. Frederick attended Chapin United Methodist Church and took much pleasure in attending the Black Sheep Sunday School class. Memorials may be made to the Chapin United Methodist Church Building Fund.
