IRMO – Funeral services for George Gardner Johnston, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 East Boundary Street, Chapin, South Carolina 29036.
Mr. Johnston was born July 27, 1927 in Pensacola, FL and passed away July 1, 2011. He was the son of the late Mary Frances and R. Earnest Johnston. Mr. Johnston was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 58 years and 10 months, Tarzie Virginia Johnston of Irmo; daughters, Debbie Nickeson of Tampa, FL, and Jennifer Black of Silverstreet, SC; son, Allen Johnston of Mobile, AL; four grandchildren, Andrea and David Nickeson, and Rachel and Jacob Black.
