Mrs. Hilborn was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Reginald B. (Sam) Hilborn. Mrs. Hilborn is survived by her daughters, Judy Sims (Michael), Angel Geerts (Christopher); sons, Robby (Diane) McCartha and Richard (Michelle) Hilborn; beloved granddaughters, Christina (Brian) West, Jennifer (Brian) Rister; and cherished grandsons, BJ Adams (Carmen), Tommy (Sara) McCartha, Rob (Jessica) McCartha and Hunter McCartha; adored great-grandchildren, Madison and Eden West, Cayden and Wesley Adams, Harper and Logan Rister and Violet and Luke McCartha; brothers, Lavone (France) Derrick, Preston (Jeanette) Derrick and Stan (Susan) Derrick, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hilborn loved her family dearly and especially shared a special relationship with niece, Lisa Reedy Frye, who shared a huge role in her care during her last year of life and battle with cancer. Mrs. Hilborn is remembered as a humanitarian who shared her love for animals with the community throughout the years, and who worked tirelessly to provide joy to families in crises and need during the holidays through her ministry at the HUB.
The family wishes to thank Generations of Chapin and their wonderful staff for their compassionate care and love extended to our mother during her brief stay and to the Palmetto Hospice Nurse, Rachel Rister, for her amazing care and guidance during the past few weeks.
Visitation for Mrs. Hilborn will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Chapin United Methodist Church, 417 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 with burial following at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 11733 Broad River Road.
