CHAPIN – Funeral services for Jack C. Amick, Retired Battalion Chief from City of Columbia Fire Services, 79, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel.
Pallbearers are: Lucas Amick, Carroll Amick, Joe Byars, Ricky Cromer, Mark Nicolai and Jerry Watford. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard and Irmo HS Class of 1957.
Mr. Amick was born January 1, 1938 in Irmo, SC and passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was a son of the late Robert Floyd Amick and Minnie Lee Thompson Deese. Mr. Amick was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Boylston Masonic Lodge 123, a Jamil Shriner and was retired after 34 years in fire service.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Amick of Chapin; daughters, Rosalind Martonen of Irmo, Trish Howell (Phil) of Lamar, SC and Pamela Amick of Chapin; son, Bobby Amick (Kim) of North Dakota; grandchildren, Sara Moore, Matthew and Nathan Amick, Stacey Martonen; great-grandchildren, Mikee and Haleigh Mace; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Zach Howell; brother, Glen (Botley) Amick (Linda) of Irmo and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jill Moore; sister, Theresa Lindler and brother, David Amick.
