Jane Elizabeth Johnson Amick went peacefully into the arms of her Savior at her home on Sunday, October 11, 2026 after a valiant one-year fight against cancer. Her husband of 46 years, Carroll Lamar Amick, and loved ones were by her side.
Jane was a fiercely loyal wife, sister, mother, “Mimi” and friend, known for her heart towards serving and loving others well. Jane was the daughter of Loretta Ivey Johnson and the late Scott H. Johnson, Jr. She was the daughter-in-law of the late David R. Amick and Betty B. Amick of Chapin.
Born in Orangeburg, Jane spent her formative years in the Irmo area, and graduated from Irmo High School in 1978. She met her husband, Carroll, in 1977, and they married on December 22, 1979. In 1980, Jane completed her associate’s degree from the University of South Carolina and worked in the banking industry for 8 years, making lifelong friends along the way.
Jane and Carroll built a home together in Chapin in 1985, where they still reside, welcomed daughter Jessica Carroll Amick in 1986, followed by son Chance Lucas Amick in 1989. An active member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, she served with the Social Ministry, supporting church members and their families through both celebrations and difficult days.
Jane spent countless hours supporting her children and their friends engaging in various hobbies throughout the years, whether it was at the softball field, building K’nex, on the volleyball court, or breaking apart (and putting back together) various pieces of lawn equipment, she was willing to do it all. Mimi to seven grandchildren, she loved them all fiercely and grew to expect (and even enjoy) the chaos that ensued with the rapid expansion of her family.
She and Carroll worked side by side, establishing two successful small businesses together. As was her nature, Jane kept everyone in line and on task for more than 20 years as the backbone of business operations for both AB Consultants and Steel Inspection Services.
For the duration of her life, Jane never met a stranger. She was gifted in both hospitality and gab, making everyone she met feel welcome and special. She always had a story or anecdote to share, regardless of the occasion. When friends returned from a trip, they would often come home to a meal in the fridge and a welcome note from Jane. She and Carroll often hosted family and friends at their home for oyster roasts, Carolina football games, and their signature New Year’s Eve party.
Surviving are her husband, Carroll L. Amick of Chapin, SC; daughter, Jessica Amick Harrell and son-in-law Nathan Harrell of Irmo with grandchildren Margaret (10), Gavin (8) and Adams (2); son, Chance Lucas Amick and daughter-in-law Brittany Amick with grandchildren Carolene (16), BriLynn (14), Jolene (11), and Easton (8); mother Loretta Ivey Johnson of Irmo; brother, Scott H.
