John was a member of Chapin Christian Community Church. Alec was in the chicken business all his adult life. He started his career in the chicken plant, and ended his career as a chicken broker. He loved playing golf, boating on the lake, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Malisa C. Herring; son, Zachary Herring; daughter-in-law, Sara Herring; granddaughter, Harper Herring; grandson, Hudson Herring; mother, Patricia Herring; brother, Charles Herring and family; cousins, Suzanne Wood and Nancy Heath; along with many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his father, William Herring and daughter, Bailee S. Herring.
Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Chapin Christian Community Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM.
