After high school, Lee enlisted in the Air Force and received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas. Lee served at Charleston AFB, Zaragoza AFB (Spain), and George AFB (California). After discharge from the Air Force, Lee worked for R. L. Bryan Printing Company and retired on February 12, 2001.
Lee enjoyed an active retirement and even in his later years enjoyed working in his garden and cutting grass. He was active in his church and rarely missed a Sunday service.
Lee was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Henry Edward Wessinger and James Franklin Wessinger, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Edith Riley Wessinger; his brother-in-law, Floyd Lester Summer; and his niece, Virginia Padgett.
He is survived by his brother, Lewis Wessinger (Jessica) and Marjorie Wessinger Summer; as well as nieces and nephews, Franklin Wessinger (Leslie), Janet Tapp (Allen), Olivia Fulmer (Grady), Elaine Price (David), James Summer (Kim), Michael Wessinger (Holly), Jason Wessinger (Heather), and Denise Schelble (Jim); and other grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church of Chapin at 2:00 PM on July 2, 2025. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the interment in the Parish Hall.
