Lizabeth W. Sutherland

Lizabeth “Libby” Langdale Wicker Sutherland (74), of Chapin, SC, passed away on April 8, 2024. She was born in Walterboro, SC on August 12, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Charles Cleveland Langdale and Harriette Hollis Langdale. Libby was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Dale Keith Sutherland.

Libby spent her life in civil service, beginning her career with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture at the age of 18, and later transitioning to the U.S. Postal Service, which she retired from in 2004. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, spending her afternoons growing beautiful flowers and maintaining her yard. She enjoyed watching crime dramas and game shows, reading good romance novels, cooking, and playing online games. She was famous for her southern macaroni and cheese. To her grandchildren she was their “Mooee,” and they were the stars in her sky.

Libby is survived by her daughter Vicki (Amick) and son-in-law Trey; her three grandchildren Peyton, Conner, and Ainsley; her brother George “Larry” Langdale (Cathy), her sister Harriett “Holly” Meetze (Joe), and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of many. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family will host a Celebration of Life reception at Chapin Baptist Church Pavilion on Sunday, May 19th from 2-4. Please join us to celebrate our “Mooee” and share all your fond memories.
