Marianne Lucy Sautter (nee Skubby), age 81, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Richard Sautter; daughter of the late Carl and Victorine Skubby; sister of the late Sr. Dianne Skubby C.P P.S., Daniel Skubby and David Skubby; loving mother of Richard (Kathy) Sautter and Karen (Greg) Ponchak; loving grandmother of Richard (Jessie) Sautter, Victoria Sautter, Greg (Paige) Fruchtnicht-Ponchak, and John Ponchak; great-grandmother of Bentley Sautter. She is also survived by her dear cousins, Linda and Bill Preslock.
Marianne was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She met her husband and love of her life, Rich, when she was 16 years old. They became engaged on her 18th birthday and were married 10 months later. They moved to Covina, California to be with Rich’s sister, Lois, and her family. Marianne and Rich had their first child, Rick, in Covina. Rich and Marianne moved back to Cleveland in 1964, where their daughter, Karen, was born. They then moved to Parma, Ohio in 1970 and continued to live there until they moved to South Carolina in 2017.
Marianne worked for the phone company in Ohio and California for 30 years, retiring in 1991. She worked her way up from being a telephone operator to management in the benefit office. Marianne was notorious for being lucky. She was on the Ohio lottery television show twice. Marianne liked to play games, especially cards.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 195 Amicks Ferry Road, Chapin, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for masses to be said in her name.
