
CHAPIN - Roberta M. Epting, 93, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at National Healthcare, West Columbia, SC. Miss Epting was born on June 25, 1918 and reared in Chapin, SC and was the granddaughter of the late Dreyton I. and Kizzie Sulton Epting, and daughter of the late Sidney Cohen and Minnie Bickley Epting. Miss Epting graduated from Chapin High School, earned a B.S. degree at Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, and did graduate work at the University of South Carolina. She taught school in Blackville, SC for 40 years until her retirement in 1980.
During 15 summers, she was the dietician at the Bob Cooper 4-H Camp. She was a life-long member of the Golden Agers and the Macedonia Lutheran Church for which her family gave the land and started the church.
Miss Epting is predeceased by one brother, Robert E. Epting, Sr. and two sisters, Miss Marie E. Epting and Mrs. Hayes B. (Mildred) Pope, Sr.; nephews, Robert E. Epting, Jr., William O. Epting; niece, Bobbie Mae Karam. Miss Epting is survived by nephews, Dalton D. and Carolyn Epting and Richard M. and Jane Epting; niece, Millie Pope and Brian Haggard; 4 great nieces; 5 great-nephews; 16 great-great-nephews; and 3 great-great-nieces.
Funeral Services will be conducted by the Reverend Randall Derrick on Monday, April 2, 2012, at 2:00 pm at the Macedonia Lutheran Church, Prosperity, SC.
