Sherry Starling Minick Rollins Lowman, age 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Lexington Medical Center. She was born on September 5, 1938 in Stoney Hill, South Carolina to Annie Laura Minick and Gary A. Minick. She had one brother, Clyde Minick, and two sisters, Doratha Schumpert (deceased) and Johnette Yarbrough (deceased). She attended Stoney Hill Elementary School and graduated from Prosperity High School in 1956.
Starling married Allen E. Rollins on September 2, 1956 in Chapin, South Carolina, and he passed away on July 15, 1972. Starling is survived by her three children: Tim Rollins (married to Connie), Renee Rollins Morton (married to Chuck) and Sherry Rollins Lindler.
Starling married John Lowman, Jr. on October 25, 2003 and moved to Ballentine, South Carolina. John passed away on June 13, 2010.
Starling is also survived by her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren: Ty Rollins (married to Meghan) - children: Caroline, Graham and Charlotte; Chelsea Miracle (married to Jason) -children: Wyatt, Maddie and Cannon; Joshua Morton (married to Hannah); Courtney Bettencourt (married to Kristen) - child: Bailey; Candace Prince (married to Josh) - children: Elijah and Emma and Casey Roe (married to Edwin) - child: Tatum.
Starling worked for Farm Bureau Insurance and retired after 25 years of service. She enjoyed reading and working in her flower garden. She also loved to volunteer her time visiting and singing with the residents of The Lowman Home and Generations of Irmo. But most of all, Starling loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC with interment to follow at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church cemetery in Chapin, SC. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Loadholdt. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
