Bill was born September 15, 1938, in San Antonio, TX, the son of late George and the late Adaline Dillard. A sister, Mary Ann, also preceded him in death. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended San Antonio College and the University of Texas.
In 1992, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and started a real estate magazine, Powerhouse Atlanta. In 1993, he met Phyllis Buckles and they were married on October 22, 1994.
In 1999, he moved to Columbia, South Carolina with Memorial Operations Corporation.
Bill was a natural salesman and was never afraid to try new things. He was always smiling, he never met a stranger, loved to laugh and tell a joke. He was very much loved by his friends and family. He was also an avid college football fan and loved rooting for his Texas Longhorns.
Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 27 years; stepdaughter, Kristin and three granddaughters, Lilly, Lydia, and Lola.
A memorial service for William will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 123 Columbia Avenue, Chapin, South Carolina 29036.
