Some of her favorite times occurred as an active member at Elkview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Also, she was very active as a leader for 4-H and Girl Scouts activities. Between 1967 and 1987, she was co-owner of Arthur Teachers with Eddie. Later in life she and Eddie began a food catering service (Quality Catering) where they worked together to prepare and serve elegant cuisine. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; Son, John Boggess, Jr., Grandson, Nathan Samuel Securro, ; Sisters: Mary Frances England and Joann Niday; Brothers, Homer Lawrence Carte, Jr. and Robert Hayward Carte. Helen will be long-remembered for her warmth, kindness and generosity, not only to family and friends but also to those of the slightest acquaintance. Her heart was as big as her smile as she invited friendliness from those she touched. She is leaving a space behind in life that may never be filled but also love, light and hope that may give strength to those she loved dearly. The family thanks Dr. Lucente and the Surgery Staff from Charleston General Hospital and the Nursing Staff in the Trauma and Stepdown Units and General, who gave special and personal care to Helen.
