

John A. Jenkins, 87, of Charleston passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at CAMC Memorial. John served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He retired from Union Carbide in 1987 with 42 years of service. John was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene since 1959, serving on the Board and teaching Sunday school. He also served on the WV South Camp Board for many years. John was preceded in death by his parents Mont and Ruby (Harrison) Jenkins and his brother Thomas R. Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Jackie (Samples) Jenkins, a sister Barbara Brillhart and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, June 20, 2014 at 1pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, Park Avenue and Grant Street with Pastor Randy Lanham, Drs. Mervin Smith and C. Harold Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Visitation will be Thursday 6-8pm at the church.
