Mary Katherine Jackson

Mary Katherine Jackson, 70, of Charleston, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Hubbard House Hospice after a long illness. She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Jean Jackson of Charleston; aunt Hazel Miller of Wilmington, NC; uncle Wayne Dawson (Carolyn) of Pinch; several cousins; and long-time friend, Tom Hone of Arlington, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, Afton K. Jackson. She was a Baptist. Mary Katherine graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School, Morris Harvey College, and Marshall University. She was Adult Basic Education Coordinator for Kanawha County schools, taught school in Glenville, WV, was Adult Education Instructor at Indiana University, taught school in Maryland and was Program Coordinator for Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT for 15 years. After her father became ill, she retired and moved back home to help care for him. She and her mother enjoyed shopping at estate sales and had tables at the Antique Mall in South Charleston. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, WV with Pastor Cherrie Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
