Alice was born June 12, 1917, at home, in St. Anne, IL. Her parents and older sister, Louise lived in a two story farmhouse where they had no electricity nor indoor plumbing until after 1946. They were members of the St. Anne Presbyterian Church. Alice’s mother died when she was 12 of tuberculosis, leaving her teenage sister, and father to continue her care as well as the farm work. Her father remarried when she was 16, later adding a stepbrother, Lebert to the family.
Alice accepted Jesus as her Lord while in Sunday School her junior year in high school, and since then has faithfully witnessed to others of what the Lord has done for her. Alice worked for the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. during WWII, and then later in Chicago, IL. She met Frank Miller at church, married him in September of 1946, and after four years God answered prayers and she bore their four children within five years, David Miller (Sally Morrow), Carol Miller Wise (Gordon, deceased), Daniel Miller (Sandy Miller), and Christine Miller Doperalski (Gary ). She had 6 grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Sara-Rebecca Hamele, Brian Miller, Danae Chipley, Sarah D’Angelo, and Rachel Doperalski. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren.
As a member of the Harvard Ave. Bible Church in Villa Park, IL, she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and faithfully supported missionaries all her life. Frank and Alice retired to Florida, then in 1986 moved to Charlotte and became Calvary Church members. At that time, their son Dan Miller had become the organist at Calvary. Frank passed away at the age of 99 in 2013, celebrating 67 years of marriage. Alice has seen God answer prayer throughout her 102 years, including healing her of a brain tumor. She was the oldest member of Calvary Church, serving in many ways.
