Alice Cansler O’Dell joined the Lord on August the 4th, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1931 in Maiden NC. She was one of 9 siblings raised on a large rural farm with loving parents and a close family.
She graduated for Startown School, attended Campbell College and moved to Charlotte to begin work at an insurance company.
She met her husband, Bob O’Dell, on a bus ride back to both of their childhood homes and they were married on April 12th 1953. They created a nice life for themselves in Charlotte adopting 2 children, Steve and Amy.
The church was the center of their family and they attended Westview Christian Church before moving to Pittsboro Christian Village in 2017 to be closer to their son in a retirement community.
Alice was a devout Christian living her life to the glory of God. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother.
Alice was a homemaker. When that term is used for her, she truly did make her home a place of love and happiness for her family. She welcomed every kid in the neighborhood into their home ,where she shared meals and treats that she cooked, and the yard or house was always packed with their children’s friends. Many friends of her children still refer to her as their second mother. She loved and spoiled all of her grandchildren with love and affection! She was also one of the happiest and positive people that you would ever want to meet always putting others before herself.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; daughter, Amy Reinecke and Amy’s husband, John and is survived by her son, Steve and his wife, Diane, of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Zach O’Dell (wife Jennifer), Sara Churchill (husband Tony), Tyler O’Dell and Ellen Salerio (husband Anthony), great grandchildren; Kash Hawes, Ace, Cash and Cruz O’Dell and Arlo Churchill.
