Amelia "Mickey" Martin Joyner

Mickey was born on January 16, 1938, in Lawndale, North Carolina, Amelia was the beloved daughter of the late Ulysses and Irene Martin. Known affectionately as “Mickey,” she brought warmth, laughter, and light wherever she went.

She married the love of her life, Ralph Joyner, and together they built a life centered on love and family. They were blessed with two children, Mitzi and Chris, who were the pride and joy of her life.

Mickey dedicated over 30 years of service to Southern Bell South, where through hard work and determination she advanced into a supervisory role. She was respected for her strong work ethic, leadership, and reliability.

A proud and active member of Laurel Baptist Church, Mickey lived her faith through kindness, service, and genuine care for others. She had a loving and caring spirit, balanced perfectly with a spunky personality and a great sense of humor. When she walked into a room, she truly lit it up.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels, feeding and caring for birds, and spending hours thrifting. Above all else, she treasured time with her family and delighted in creating lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Mickey will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, her faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy of love and joy will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, Mickey was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Marion Joyner.

She is survived by her two children, Mitzi Joyner Gould and Ralph Christopher Joyner; her grandchildren, Megan Warrick, Chris Joyner, Brandon Gould, and Kelly Joyner; and her great granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Ruehlen.

Family will receive friends on January 8, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Laurel Baptist Church, located at 11801 Plaza Rd Extension, Charlotte, NC 28215. Funeral Service will immediately follow. Mickey will be laid to rest after the Funeral Service at Carolina Memorial Park, 12015 University City Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28213.
