Mickie is survived by her son Mark Barnaba (Rennie), granddaughter Kayleigh, sister in law Pat Miller, cousin Tina Noll, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & many friends across the country. In addition to her Charlotte Chick fil-A family, Mickie had very special friends in her life especially, Ken and Bonnie Dowd, Tammy Porter,
JoAnn and Lamar Hicks, Helen Toma, Meg Hancock and Hildy Edelmann.
It is difficult to sum up Mickie's life in just a few short paragraphs.
Mickie was born in Brooklyn, New York in the roaring 1920s. Perhaps this was the start of her love of dance. Mickie met & fell in love with
John Barnaba in NYC and they soon married. Several years later their son, Mark, was born. Mickie was a busy homemaker. She and John were very involved in Mark's life and they took extreme joy in watching Mark play sports. After John passed Mickie relocated from NY to Charlotte to be closer to her mother, sister & brothers. Charlotte was a growing city but for Mickie it had the feel of a small town for which she came to love and cherish.
Mickie was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Ann Catholic Church, Charlotte. She was grateful for every moment God gave her on earth and she never took life for granted. She loved to start her day with weekly visits to Chick-fil-A, on East Woodlawn Avenue, where she was employed and then later retired. Meeting new people and getting to know the Chick-fil-A customers brought her such joy and in turn she became part of their lives. There will never be enough kind words to express to Chick-fil-A how grateful Mickie's family is for their kindness to Mickie over the years.
Mickie was an avid golfer and belonged to a women's league. She was so excited when she made a great golf shot. She also loved a good garage sale! She was a sports fan & was so looking forward to cheering on her favorite team, the Carolina Panthers, in the Super Bowl.
The world lost a beautiful soul who would put the needs of others before her own. Our hearts will be forever broken as her family and friends will miss Mickie dearly, but we know Mickie is with the Lord. She will continue to watch over everyone who meant so much to her.
May God bless Mickie with His love.
