He grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and attended Indiana University on a baseball scholarship and then Wake Forest University. He worked in the freight industry throughout his adult life. He retired from Old Dominion Freight Lines in 2015. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, growing his day lilies and going to the beach. He enjoyed reading his favorite authors Stephen King, James Patterson, and Dean Koontz.
He is survived by Brandi Cutrell (daughter) and husband Anthony; Andrew, Jr. (son) and wife Abby and grandson, Silas; Phyllis Cutrell (wife) and Casey, Michael, Chad, Chris (stepchildren); and also step-grandchildren: Chase, Abby, and Cayden.
The service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
