Ann was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John Lindsay and Eleanor Lucille Butler Menold. She graduated from the College of Wooster in 1951 and married the late John Wesley Kenney in that same year. A devoted wife and mother, she was also involved in the Presbyterian Church throughout her life. A special love were the years spent with her husband leading church youth groups. She served in the Presbyterian Women as the Treasurer. She and her husband enjoyed sailing and taught many Power Squadron classes, and ultimately attained the Navigator designation. Later in life she was a volunteer at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital, where she was acknowledged for her 2000+ hours of service.
Her loving, caring spirit radiated in her warm, welcoming smile. She will be missed by her family: a brother, John Lindsay Menold, Jr. of Riverside, California; her children, John Wesley Kenney, Jr. (Richard Cauthen) of Charlotte and Beth Ann Kenney (Marvin) Owen of Florence, SC; her grandchildren, Christopher James Owen and Claire Elizabeth Owen both of Jackson, Wyoming, Sarah Courtney Owen (Jacob) Landry of New Orleans, Louisiana and Kristen Elaine Owen (William) Hardaway of Florence, SC, Bekah Cauthen of Frankfurt, Germany, and Patrick Cauthen of Columbia, SC; and her great- grandchildren, Jack, Cora and Luke Landry, and Billy Hardaway will enjoy hearing stories about their “GiGi Mother”.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte. The family will receive friends afterwards.
