Born June 7, 1938, to the late Paul and Margaret Petruska. She married James Ludwig in 1964 and raised four children. She was totally dedicated to her children, never missing a sports competition or band concert, and serving many years as an officer in the PTA and high school band boosters. However, her pride and joy were her eight grandchildren.
She had a short career as a programmer at Bell Labs from 1960 to 1964 when she had her first child. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1956 and received her BS in Math from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA in 1960.
Arlene was an active resident in Four Seasons on Gold Hill community in Fort Mill, organizing many of the events and participating in the bocce league. She greatly enjoyed playing canasta and taking cruises with her friends from Four Seasons.
In April 1989, Arlene underwent a successful liver transplant at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which extended her life for 35 years, allowing her to see the marriages of her children and the birth of her grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jim. She leaves behind her four children, Jim Ludwig (Amparo), Linda Stipo (Jerry), Donna Morris (Marc), Patricia Krymold (Sergey), and eight grandchildren, Andrew Ludwig, Nicholas Ludwig, Christopher Stipo, Austin Stipo, Amber Morris, Sarah Morris, Joshua Krymgold, Zachary Krymgold.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Philip Neri Church, at 292 Munn Road E, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
