Her love of family and the wonderful life she lived was shared with everyone she met. Ashlyn tirelessly gave her time and energy to all. In her role as a yoga instructor, she encouraged her students to love themselves and to be kind to others. As a mother, she taught her daughter compassion and kindness to all. As a wife, she was fun, loving and supportive. As a daughter, sister and aunt, she showed strength and a passion for life.
Ashlyn delighted in her pink home and enjoyed filling it with pictures of her family and travels. She took great joy in painting, a skill she learned from her mother. Nothing could be too frilly or ‘girly’ for Ashlyn...the pinker it was, the more she loved it! Her cat, Roxy, was the joy of her life, and on special occasions she dressed her in one of her many ‘cat costumes’.
She is survived by her husband, Dick, and their daughter, Sierra, her parents, Jim and Judy Newell of Floyd, VA, her sister, Helen Constantine and her four children of St. Louis, MO, and her brother, Jim, and his wife, Patricia, and their two children of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine Children’s Hospital or the American Kidney Fund.
A celebration of Ashlyn’s life will be held at Central Church of God in Weatherby Hall on Sunday, May 31st at 2:30pm, with family visitation immediately following. Pastor Loran Livingston will preside.
