Barbara Claire McLain Gerrard

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William Gerrard, and is survived by her sons, David Lorton Gerrard (Sheryl) and Jeffrey Wynne Gerrard (Paula) of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Gerrard of Boston, MA, Brianna Christy (Jason) and Colt Gerrard of Charlotte, and her great-grandchildren, Journey and Hayden Christy.

Barbara was born in Durham, NC and spent her childhood in Atlanta, GA and Greensboro, NC before moving to Charlotte as a teenager. She met Bill Gerrard while working at NC&B. They married on June 13, 1951, prior to his service in Iceland with the NCANG. Barbara was a long-time participant in the Charlotte Oratorio Singers and had a beautiful alto soprano voice. She enjoyed all types of classical music throughout her life. Barbara was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, especially during birthday and holiday celebrations.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2, at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:15 am.
