

Belmont was born March 26, 1914 in Spencer, NC to Durward Belmont Kizziah and Frances Bowman Kizziah. She was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, the Ruth Fisher Sunday School class and Myers Park Country Club. A lover of flowers and décor, Belmont served on the MPUMC Altar Guild for over 30 years. She also volunteered for many years at Presbyterian Hospital as part of their Auxiliary Services.
She is survived by her son, Durward Thomason of Charlotte; grandson, Durward Thomason, Jr. (Carla) of Longs, SC; and niece, Jean C. Guyton of Bladenboro, NC. Her husband, H.V. (Tommy) Thomason, preceded her in death in July 1987.
A service to celebrate Belmont’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23rd at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, with the Reverend Dr. James Howell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Ruth Fisher Class, Altar Guild, Susan Mobley and the MPUMC Care Team, Bonnie and Bernard Banks, Sue and Joe Young, Jenny Widmer, Babs and Billy Richard, Cathy and Art Ringwald, Jean and Dick Cornwall, Liz and Whit McDowell, Nancy and Bobby Donaldson, Ellen Turner, Ellen Chason, Larue Perry, and Bert and George Barret.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org); or, at Belmont’s suggestion, to spend time or share meals with those unable to travel outside the home
