Betty Marks Altman

Betty Lou Marks Altman, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, after a short illness at Royal Park, Matthews, NC. She was surrounded by family and close friends, and the prayers of many others who loved her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harry T Altman; mother to Candy Cross of Charlotte, Ron Hale of Palm Springs, CA., Janice and Richard Hayes of Charlotte and the late Rick Hale; grandchildren included Brandy and John Reece, Rick and Stephanie Hale Jr., Rusty and Paula Hale & Rachel Hayes. Great grandchildren included Hannah, Khristian and Kelly Lathe; Cory, Caleb Hale and Zachery Hale along with several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Dody Marks Fisher and her family.

Born in Monroe NC, she was a graduate of Central High or Charlotte, NC, Class of 1947, with a career in real estate accounting and banking.

Betty enjoyed life and was the kind of mother everyone wanted to have. She allowed her children to be kids. You could often find her playing ball with the neighborhood kids or packing up the car and heading to the beach to have a fun filled day with family and friends. Betty was a huge fan of baseball and tennis. She was adventurous and enjoyed learning about different cultures during her travels throughout the years.

Please join us in honor of our loving mother at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Visitation with family will be at 1:00pm, Memorial service at 2:00pm and Celebration of Life with a catered reception at 3:00pm.
