

Matthews, NC-Betty Harden Arrington, 86, formerly of Orlando, FL and Shellman, GA, passed away early Sunday afternoon, November 22, 2015 at Royal Park Rehabilitation and Health Center where she has resided the past two years.
Born in Cuthbert, GA on April 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late J.W. Harden and Minnie Jewel Bynum Harden.
A Baptist by faith, she was employed as an electrical technician for 37 years with the former Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, in Orlando, where she was involved in cutting edge technology, including our missile systems. Additionally, Betty was involved with the design and construction of the monorail system at Disney.
A wonderful, strong, brilliant, beautiful Christian woman; she was devoted to her family and will be missed by many friends and loved ones.
She was a member of her high school basketball team, she passionately loved the beach, seashell collecting, bird watching, exercising, reading and spending time at Disney.
Her devoted husband of 60 years, Charles Richard Arrington, preceded her in death on August 1, 2008.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Rickie Grubb and her husband, Lewis and a grandson, Clay Grubb and his companion, Amanda all of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Betty Harden Arrington will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at McEwen Derita Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the funeral home, located at 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte.
It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to one’s own favorite charity.
