

Betty Love Hunsucker, 90, of Charlotte, passed away January 23, 2021. Born January 16, 1931 in Kannapolis, NC, she was the daughter of Rev. James L. and Mae (Gasa) Love. She was the wife of Henry Glenn Hunsucker for 58 years.
A graduate of Statesville Sr. High School and Lenoir Rhyne College with an Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Science. She taught at Bessemer City High School for 5 years and 30 years at West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte.
While at West Mecklenburg High, Betty sponsored the Red Cross Club and initiated Blood Drives at the school. The club also won a National Red Cross Service award. Following retirement, she obtained a real estate license and was a Notary.
As a member of Christ UMC, she served in various capacities. While being a mission’s chairperson, she became a charter member of the Uptown Men’s Shelter Board. In addition, she was worship chairperson and as the UMW President, she received a life membership pin. She was a member of the 50 Plus Senior Group and a choir member for many years.
Survivors include her son, Gary Hunsucker; sister, Dottie Gerner and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Wendy Provost Hunsucker; sisters, Frances J. Love and Maxine Edwards; and her brother, Harold R. Love.
Funeral Service 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte. Visitation 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
