

Betty Marie Braziel Rogers, formerly of Chattanooga, TN, of Charlotte, NC died February 7, 2018. She was born in Detroit, MI on December 4, 1928. Betty was one of seven children born to the late Henry Grady and Eula Mae Jones Braziel. They moved the family to Chattanooga, TN in 1943.
Betty is predeceased by her brothers, Jack Braziel and Ray Braziel; her sister, Nina Tyler; her son, Robert Larry Rogers; her daughter, Gloria Hamilton; and her granddaughter, Tina South.
Betty is survived by her husband, Earl Melvin Rogers (almost 72 years of marriage); her sisters – Peggy Dillard, Patsy Fickle and Nancy Duke; her sons, Rick Rogers (Beverly) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Gary Rogers (Amy) of Tuscaloosa, AL; six grandchildren – Kimberly West, Melissa Gagne, Jason Jarrett, Chandler Rogers, Hannah Rogers, Benjamin Japha, eight great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The love of her life, high school sweetheart and best friend was her husband Mel, who she met at Chattanooga(TN) Central High School in 1944.
Betty was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
Betty worked at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education and the Blue Flame Credit Union. She was actively involved with the Queen Charlotte Chorus of Sweet Adelines International from 1971 to 2007. Betty was a volunteer worker at CMC Pineville Hospital’s gift shop from 1994 to 2010.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service.
