Betty Sloan

Betty Jean Childers Sloan, of Charlotte, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Sunday, March 18th 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard F. Sloan, to whom she was married for 49 years. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Goodall and husband, Eddie, of Weddington, NC, Julie Shuford and husband, Rick of Statesville, NC, and Janice Miller of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Monica Shuford, Claire Goodall, Christopher Miller and Abigail Shuford; one brother, J. Lewis Childers of Statesville, NC; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sloan will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC, with the Rev. Dr. Peter Brown officiating. Family visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the church parlor prior to the service. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 114 N. Oakwood Dr., Statesville, NC, with Pastor Matthew Miller of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Troutman, NC officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Avenue.
